Abstract:
Purpose of review: Although in the past most attention was paid to psychopathology, these days outcome parameters such as cognitive and occupational performance, emotional stability, quality of
life and psychosocial functioning are being recognized as important determinants of treatment success. Instead of only reducing the symptoms, therapy with antipsychotics must attain higher goals
such as remission and recovery today.
Recent findings: The Psychosocial Performance Scale offers a validated, reliable and operational tool to assess the psychosocial functioning of patients during the course of treatment as well as in the acute state. The Mini-ICF-P might be a similar instrument for measuring psychosocial functioning.
Summary: In the future, medication and non-medication treatment strategies will also be judged by the ability to improve the psychosocial functioning of patients with schizophrenia, as measured by the Personal and Social Performance scale and the Mini-ICF-P.

Purpose of review: To present state-of-the-art transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) therapy, especially when it is used in psychiatric disorders, on the basis of an exhaustive literature search
from 2006 to date (June 2008) on TMS papers published in Medline and Embase. Other references and comments from our own experience started 8 years ago have also been taken into
account.
Recent findings: The mechanism of action of TMS is now better understood. There is strong evidence of the safety and tolerability of TMS when standard protocols are used. The efficacy of the stimulation of the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex in depression is well documented, and there is evidence of the utility of TMS in posttraumatic stress disorder, in persistent auditory hallucinations in schizophrenia and in attention-deficit disorder with hyperactivity.
Summary: There is enough evidence of the efficacy and safety of TMS in depression to include this technique in the therapeutic protocols of major depression. However, more research is needed on the use of this technique in other psychiatric

Purpose of review: The present review focuses on the pharmacoepidemiological issues of psychotropic drug use in countries within east Asia, with special emphasis on antipsychotic, antidepressant
and benzodiazepine prescriptions. Pharmacogenetic studies in different ethnic groups are also reviewed.
Recent findings: Recent studies have revealed the prevalence of antipsychotic polytherapy (defined as the use of more than one antipsychotic; up to 45.7%), less conservative antipsychotic use (defined as the use of more than 1000 mg/day chlorpromazine equivalents; up to 17.9%) and depot antipsychotic use (up to 15.3%) in different populations in east Asia. Clozapine is commonly prescribed (up to 60%) in China. There is a trend of increasing second-generation antipsychotic use in east Asian countries. Up to 67.5% of patients received newer antidepressants such as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors. Benzodiazepine medications are used in up to 29.9% of study populations. Socioeconomic factors appear to be one of the major common factors that affect the prescription of antipsychotics and newer antidepressants. Pharmacogenetic factors associated with antipsychotic response, weight gain and extrapyramidal side effects have been examined. Treatment adherence and pharmacoeconomic factors are relatively understudied.
Summary: Future studies on prescribing trends of antipsychotics and antidepressants need to focus on children, adolescent and elderly patient populations, the impact of changing prescription trends and the long-term effects on patients and their caregivers, as well as pharmacogenetic factors, which can potentially pave the way for better and more individualized prescription of psychotropic drugs in east Asia.

Preliminary findings were presented at the annual meeting of the American Psychiatric Association, May 19–24, 2007, San Diego, California.
OBJECTIVE: Because treatments for bipolar disorder include a growing number of psychotropic agents, the authors evaluated psychotropic polytherapy and adherence to treatment among U.S. patients with bipolar disorder. METHODS: National health plan claims data (2000–2004) were used to identify patients diagnosed as having bipolar disorder who had continuous benefits and had not been prescribed medication for bipolar disorder for six months or more. The study compared drugs dispensed to these patients initially and at one year and characterized patients who were adherent to mood-stabilizers. RESULTS: A total of 7,406 patients had a bipolar disorder: bipolar I (55%), bipolar II (15%), or bipolar disorder not otherwise specified (30%). Women represented 57% of the sample; mean±SD age was 35.4±12.4 years. Initial prescription fills involved one psychotropic agent in 67% of patients, and two or more psychotropics (polytherapy) in 33%. Initial prescription drug selections involved: antidepressants > anticonvulsants > antipsychotics > sedatives > lithium; initial mood stabilizer use ranked: valproate > lithium > carbamazepine or oxcarbazepine > lamotrigine; antipsychotics ranked: olanzapine > quetiapine> risperidone > ziprasidone > aripiprazole > clozapine. Rankings were similar at one year, when only 31% of patients received monotherapy (a 2.2-fold decline), 32% received polytherapy, and 37% received no psychotropics. Initially patients received 1.42 psychotropic drugs per person; at one year, patients received 175, and at both times polytherapy was less likely with lithium than with anticonvulsants. In multivariate modeling, one-year mood stabilizer use was greater with the following: older age, type of mood stabilizer (lamotrigine > valproate > carbamazepine or oxcarbazepine > lithium) and was associated with more psychiatric office and emergency visits, clinician type (more common with psychiatrists than with primary care physicians), and nonuse of off-label anticonvulsants. CONCLUSIONS: Polytherapy was used by one-third of patients initially and at one year, antidepressant use was highly prevalent initially and later, but lack of treatment was prevalent at one year. Plausible clinical and treatment factors were associated with sustained mood stabilizer adherence.

Exploring the Soul*
*Living a Spiritual Life*
Throughout the journey from birth to death, many people choose to question
life, strive for improvement, seek out knowledge, and search for the divine.
Simply put, this is the essence of spirituality. One's spiritual practice
can take on many forms, because embracing the spiritual is a very personal
pursuit. While many people do relate their spirituality to a God or Goddess,
this quest for the divine, or oneness with the universe, always springs from
within. It doesn't matter where you find your spiritual path. We are all
fundamentally spiritual beings and the essence of that lies in knowing one's
true self and finding a peace that comes from within rather than the outside
world. It is in remembering this that we awaken to our personal path.
The spiritual path springs forth from a daily routine that reaffirms our
personal connection with a purpose or a way of life. Practicing compassion,
gratitude, appreciation, forgiveness, generosity, meditation, and taking
care of one's wellbeing can all be a part of one's spiritual life. If you
are new to exploring your personal spirituality, remember that this is a
process. You may want to spend a few moments each day giving yourself a
spiritual gift. Try a new form of meditation, visit a sanctuary, or explore
a specific deity.
Accepting the importance of spirituality can be a healthy decision, because
a spiritual practice tends to include habits that promote healthy living.
Take the time to carefully determine the action, thought, and ritual that
most speaks to your soul. Remember that your most profound spiritual
experiences may also come from the simple intricacies that make up your
life. See the interconnectedness of all things. As you explore your "inner
work," you will be walking your spiritual path and feeling your oneness with
the universe.

Emptiness Becomes Openness
Sometimes a Loss Can Be a Gain
When we lose anything that we cherish, the sense of emptiness we are
left
behind with can be overwhelming. A space that was filled, whether
in our
lives or our hearts, is now a void, and the feelings of pain,
loss, and
separation can sometimes be difficult to bear. While it is
always important
to honor what we've lost, sometimes a loss can also
represent a chance for a
new beginning. When we are ready, the void
left by a relationship, a job, or
a dream can then be viewed as open
space that can be filled with something
new: new experiences, new
knowledge, new job opportunities, new dreams, new
people, and new ways
to grow.
There are many ways to weave the threads of loss into a blessing. If
you've lost a job or ended a relationship, your first thoughts may
revolve around filling the void with a similar job or the same kind of
relationship. Try not to rush into anything just to fill up the
emptiness. The loss of a job can free you up to explore new
opportunities, especially if you've outgrown the old one. Likewise,
the
loss of a relationship can give you a chance to rediscover your
own
interests, explore new passions, and meet different people.
If seeking the good in what seems like a bad situation makes you feel
uncomfortable, then try to remember that you are not devaluing what
you've lost or replacing it cold-heartedly. You are surrendering to
the
fact that, in life, we sometimes have to let go and allow for what
is new to
enter into the open spaces created by our losses. In doing
so, you are
honoring what has left you and welcoming the new into your
life with open
space, an open mind, and an open heart

Comparatia spiritului cu forta invisibila a magnetului
Where is this quantum, mechanical (spiritual) body? One can answer
that
that it lies in a gap that unfortunately is rather difficult to
picture,
since it is silent, has no thickness, and exists everywhere.
Finding the silent gap that flashes in between our thoughts seems
relatively easy, but because it flashes by, a tiny gap is not a
doorway.
The quantum body is not separate from us–it is us–yet we are
not
experiencing it right now. Sitting here, we are thinking, reading,
talking
breathing, digesting, and so on, all of which happens above
the line.
Here is an analogy that brings the quantum mechanical body into focus:
Take a bar magnet and place a piece of paper over it. Next, sprinkle
iron filings on the paper and jostle it slightly. What will emerge is
a
pattern of curving lines, one inside the other, that arch from the
magnet's
north to south pole and back again. The overall design you
have made
represents a map of the magnetic lines of force that
otherwise would be
invisible, except that the iron particles
automatically align themselves to
bring out the image.
We see all mind-body activity above the paper and the hidden field of
intelligence below. The iron filings moving around are mind-body
activity, automatically aligning with the magnetic field, which is
intelligence. The field is completely invisible and unknowable until
it
shows its hand by moving some bits of matter around. The piece of
paper is
the quantum mechanical body, a thin screen that shows exactly
what patterns
of intelligence are being manifested at the moment.
There you have a picture of how the body-mind actually relates to the
field of intelligence. The two remain separated, but the division is
invisible and has no thickness whatever. It is just a gap. The only
way
one knows that the quantum level even exists is that images and
patterns
keep cropping up everywhere in the body.
To dive into the field of intelligence appears easy now: It requires
only
a trip across a gap. But even though the gap has no thickness, it
forms a
barrier no steel door could possibly match. To solve the
mystery of the gap,
we need to consult the ones who have been there

Unicitate si dualitate
Wholeness is safe; duality isn't. Wholeness brings a seamless, unified
world, but you will not know what that world feels like until you give
your allegiance to a new operating system. Shifting from the old
system
to the new one is a process, one that each of us must commit
ourselves to
every day.
Our shared addiction to duality is total; it leaves nothing out. The
good
news is that no aspect of life is immune to transformation. Every
change you
make, however small, will be communicated throughout
existence–quite
literally the whole universe will be eavesdropping on
you and lending you
its support. From its point of view, the formation
of a galaxy is no more
momentous than the evolution of a single
person.
A skeptic will protest that this new operating system is only a matter
of
perception, and that just seeing yourself as the creator of your
reality
doesn't mean you are. But it does.
Reality shifts as you do, and when you change your perception of being
separate, the one reality responds by shifting with you. The reason
everyone doesn't notice this is that the ego-based world with all its
demands, pressures, drama, and excesses is highly addictive, and like
any addiction it needs a daily fix as well as denial that there is any
way out. By giving your allegiance to the one reality instead, you
won't
end the addiction immediately, but you will begin to starve it.
Your ego and
personality, which give you limited awareness of who you
are, will be put on
notice that clinging and grasping must come to an
end. Your conditioning
from the past that told you how to win out over
the outside world will no
longer help you survive. The support you
counted on from external sources
such as family, friends status,
possessions, and money will no longer make
you feel secure.
Rest assured that perception is flexible enough to let go of the
addiction to duality. Any event can be seen as coming from the
creative
center in oneself. At this very moment I can look at any part
of my life and
say "I made that." Then it is only one step away to ask
"Why did I make
that?" and "What do I want to make instead?"
Avoiding Negative Vibrations
Taking on the Energy of
Others
There are times when you may find that being around certain
individuals
or groups of people leaves you with feelings of
discomfort. It may be that
spending time with a particular friend
feels draining or that dealing with a
specific coworker exhausts you.
Being around toxic or angry people is also
draining. And you may even
find that being surrounded by a crowd of people
lowers your energy
levels rather than perks you up. This is not that
unusual. Each of us
radiates energy and is capable of being influenced by
the energy of
other people. It is important to learn how to shield yourself,
so you
don't unknowingly take on someone else's energy. While some people
know how to instinctively protect themselves from being adversely
affected by energy, most of us need to discover and practice the
technique that works best.
There are a number of ways to avoid being affected by people's energy.
Shielding is one preventative technique you can use. Center yourself
and
envision being enveloped in a cocoon of loving and protective
light. This
protective layer should allow you to consciously regulate
the energy around
you. The intent to shield oneself is all you need
for this technique to
work. You can even create a trigger word to
assist you in quickly creating a
shield. Say this word each time you
create a new shield, until the word and
the shield become
automatically associated in your mind. If you run into a
person whose
energy you find draining, you may want to cleanse your own
energy
field after your encounter. Sage, cold showers, singing, mineral
water
baths, spending time in nature, and a simple break to recharge are all
ways to accomplish this.
While it is important to know how to shield yourself from energy,
there
are those energies that you may not want to shut out. The energy
of laughter
from a newborn baby, the feeling of joy radiating from
someone in love, and
the frequency of calm emanating from an
enlightened teacher are just some of
the energies coming from others
that you may want to have around you.

Being Happy For Friends
When we are close friends with someone, we intuitively know when they
need a hug, a helping hand, or a sympathetic ear. Likewise, when we
are
going through bleak periods in our lives, we count on friends to
support us
through loss, illness, and other setbacks, both big and
small. And while
part of being a good friend means being there when
the other person needs
us, it is just as important to be there for our
friends so we can share in
their joyous celebrations and triumphs.
After all, who else would our friends want to celebrate their
promotions,
graduations, marriages, and good news with than their
loved ones and good
friends. Yet depending on what is happening in our
lives, it can sometimes
be difficult to be there for our friends
during the good times. We can
become so busy with our own lives that
we forget to make time. Or, we may be
so focused on our own problems
that we may not feel like celebrating with
our friends. We may even
take their joyful moments for granted, assuming
that as long as we're
there for our friends during the bad times that we are
doing our jobs.
Yet part of being a true friend means also being there
during the good
times. Success and happiness can feel empty without someone
to share
them with, and who better to join in our victory dances than our
good
friends.
Taking the time from our busy lives to honor our friends' happy
moments
is a wonderful way to show them that they matter. And in many
ways, by
wanting you around during their happy occasions, your friends
are also
honoring you. After all, it is the people we cherish that we
want around us
to sing at our birthdays, visit our newborn babies, and
pop open that bottle
of champagne with when we reach a milestone
moment. The next time a friend
wants you to be there to celebrate with
them, remember to feel honored that
they thought of asking you.
Together, you can celebrate their happiness and
your rich friendship

Discovering the Little Things that Make Us
Happy
Life is full of little wonders that can make us happy. The sound of a
baby's laughter, a good book, the comforting smell of a favorite old
sweatshirt, and the warmth from a cup of hot tea are simple pleasures
that can easily put smiles on our faces. These "little things" are
easily accessible to us and can be sources for finding happiness. A
key
to doing so is taking the time to put those rose colored glasses
from
childhood back on so you can easily find the joy in all the
"little things"
that life has to offer.
Finding a puppy rummaging through the laundry basket, trying on that
perfect shade of lipstick, or discovering the extra change you left in
your back pocket can turn into moments of delight. Like kids digging
in
the sandbox for buried trinkets, we may even begin to experience
happiness
when we engage in the seemingly mundane. Figuring out a
software program can
feel like deciphering a treasure map, and that
first sip of tea in the
morning can taste like a forbidden delicacy.
Swaying to music playing on the
radio can turn into an interpretive
jig, riding a bike can seem like flying
to the moon, and getting a
phone call from that special someone can feel
like winning the
lottery. A pickup game of basketball becomes an exciting
match among
champions, and observing an elderly couple walking hand in hand
can
turn into a meditation on peace and contentment.
When we begin rediscovering that the little things in life can make us
happy, we naturally want to share this joy with others. We may gush
over
a friend when we run into them unexpectedly, praise a street
musician for
their talents, or blow bubbles for the neighborhood kids
to chase. We may
even start to think of the little things we can do to
make other people
happy, which in turn makes us happy all over again.
There is an endless
supply of little things and little moments that
can make us happy. All we
have to do is look for them, and they'll
magically start to appear.

Get Out of Your Own Way
When you find yourself facing obstacles that appear to be blocking you
from your goals, it is important to try not to get discouraged. It can
be easy to feel "stuck" or that "life" is creating circumstances
preventing you from getting what you want. And while it is easy to
look
at everyone and everything outside of ourselves for the problem,
perhaps
even wanting to "get rid" of the person, object, or
circumstance we may feel
is blocking us, sometimes the best course of
action to take may be to look
inside ourselves first.
It is amazing how often we can get in our own way without even being
aware that we are doing so. Even though we truly want to succeed,
there
are many reasons why we may sometimes block our own efforts. It
may be that
we are afraid to succeed, so we subconsciously create
circumstances to keep
ourselves stuck. Or it may even be that we are
afraid that we will succeed,
so we block ourselves by making the
achievement of our goals more difficult
than they really are. We may
even approach our goals in a way that keeps
creating the same
unsuccessful results.
If you believe that you've been standing in your own way, you may want
to
take a piece of paper and record how you've done so. Write down the
choices
you've made that have hindered your efforts and the fears that
may have
prompted you to make these decisions. Take note of any
thoughts and feelings
that arise. It is important to be gentle and
compassionate during this
process. Try not to blame yourself for
getting in your own way. Remember the
choices we make always are there
to serve us, until it is time to let them
go. When you are finished,
throw the paper away while setting an intention
that you are getting
rid of any obstacles you've created to block yourself.
You can then
let yourself start again with a clean slate. Doubts and fears
are
going to be natural, but with this new awareness, you should be able
to prevent yourself from subconsciously thwarting yourself. Besides,
now
that you've decided to get out of your own way, the part of you
that has
always wanted to succ! eed can now do so

The Light at the End of the Tunnel
Nothing Is Insurmountable
When our next best course of action seems unclear, any dilemmas we
face can appear insurmountable. Yet there is nothing we cannot
overcome with time, persistence, focused thought, help, and faith.
Whatever the situation or problem, there is always a solution. And if
you remember to look within, even as you search around you for the
"right" course of action, you will be able to center yourself, clear
your mind, and see that nothing has to be impossible.
The first step in overcoming any obstacle is to believe that it can be
overcome. Doing so will give you the strength and courage to move
through any crisis. The second step is to make a resolution that you
can prevail over any chaos. Enlist your support network of family and
friends if necessary. The more minds there are to consider a problem,
the more solutions can be found. Don't discount ideas just because
they seem impractical or "unrealistic," and don't keep searching for
the "best" alternative. Often there is no "best" choice, there is only
a choice to make so we can begin moving beyond whatever is obstructing
our path. At the very least, making a choice, even if isn't the ideal
one, can give you a sense of peace before you have to figure out what
your next course of action will be.
If you feel overwhelmed by the scope of your troubles, you may want to
think of other people who have turned adversity into triumph. We often
gain a fresh perspective when we remember others who have overcome
larger obstacles. It can be inspiring to hear of their victories,
helping us remember that there is always light at the end of every
tunnel. It is during our darkest hours that we sometimes need to
remind ourselves that we don't have to feel helpless. You have within
and around you the resources to find a solution to any problem. And
remember that if a solution or choice you make doesn't work, you are
always free to try another. Believe that you can get through anything,
and you will always prevail

*Becoming Whole Again*
*The Process of Grieving*
When we experience any kind of devastating loss, whether it is the loss of a
loved one, a dream, or a relationship, feelings may arise within us that are
overwhelming or difficult to cope with. This sense of grief can also come up
when we are separated from anyone or anything we have welcomed into our
lives. And while it may feel like we are caught up in a never-ending spiral
of sadness and emptiness, it is important to remember that the grief we are
feeling is not a permanent state of being. Rather, grief is part of the
process of letting go that in many ways can be a gift, allowing us to go
deeper within ourselves to rediscover the light amidst the seeming darkness.
The emotions that accompany any kind of loss can be intense and varied. A
sense of shock or denial is often the first reaction, to be replaced by
anger. Sometimes this anger can be directed at your loved one for
"abandoning" you; at other times you may feel outrage toward the universe
for what you are enduring. And while there are stages of grief that people
go through – moving from denial to anger to bargaining to depression to
acceptance – the cycles of grief often move in spirals, sometimes circling
forward and then back again. You may even experience moments of strength,
faith, and laughter in between. While these emotions seem to come and go
sporadically, it is important to feel them, accept them, and allow them to
flow. With time, patience, and compassion, you will eventually find your
center again.
As we move through our grief, we may find ourselves reluctant to release our
pain, fearing we are letting go of who or what we have lost. We may even
regard our movement toward healing as an act of disloyalty or giving up.
Know that while the hurt may fade, the essence of what you had and who you
loved will have already transformed you and forever stay with you. If
anything, once you are ready for the pain of your loss to subside, their
memories can then live more fully within you. Remember, that healing is a
part of the spiraling cycles of grief, and that in letting yourself feel
restored again, you are surrendering to a natural movement that is part of
the dance of life

*Living A Life Of Grace*
Grace exists inside of all of us and around us. It is our inner beauty that
radiates outward, touching everyone we meet. It is that unseen hand that
comes from the divine, raising us up when we most need it. To be able to
live in a state of grace is not based on worthiness, nor is it earned
through good deeds, ritual, or sacrifice. Rather it is an unearned favor,
freely bestowed and available to all, that is inherent to our birthright.
All we must do is open our eyes to its presence and we will find and
experience grace everywhere.
Grace is in the rain bringing relief to drought-ridden farms, and the
unexpected lead for the perfect job opportunity that comes from a stranger.
Grace is what happens to someone when they miraculously escape injury; it is
even the simple events that happen to us that we call "good luck," like when
we don't get a parking ticket after are meter has expired. Grace resides in
the love between two people, the gift or check that comes unexpectedly in
the mail, the cozy comforts that make up a home, and in the acts of
forgiveness we bestow upon others. It is grace that moves us to go out of
our way to help a stranger. In music, a grace note is the pause between
notes that is so important to the pacing of a song. Grace is the state we
are in when we are doing nothing but just being who we are.
When we accept that we always exist in a state of grace, we are able to live
our lives more graciously. Knowing we are graced gives us hope, makes us
more generous, and allows us to trust that we are taken care of even when we
are going through difficult times. Grace is our benevolence of heart, and
our generosity of spirit. Grace is unconditional love and the beauty that is
our humanity. When we know that we are blessed with grace, we can't help but
want to live our lives in harmony

*Accepting and Releasing Emotions*
*Denying Your Feelings*
Dealing with powerful emotions can be challenging, especially when we are
going through chaotic, sad, or cruel experiences in our lives. Often, it can
seem like we have only two options for dealing with our feelings so they
don't become too overwhelming. We may let our feelings out in an immediate
and visceral way, or we may bottle them up by suppressing our emotions
inside our bodies. Most people make the second choice, repressing their
feelings in an attempt to deny them. The truth is that there are many
positive ways to deal with emotions, and experiencing your negative feelings
doesn't have to constitute a negative experience. Denying your feelings is
not only unhealthy for the mind and the body, but it may also rob you of
valuable information you could be learning about yourself and your life.
Suppressing your emotions can even impede your short-term memory.
Acknowledging your feelings can help you better understand them and help you
recover naturally from change, stres! s, and grief.
If you find that facing your feelings head on is proving too difficult
during times of emotional distress, you may want to explore alternative ways
of expressing them. Otherwise, the emotions you deny could morph into
unconscious anger or self-hatred. Expressing your thoughts to friends or
family can be helpful. If you don't feel ready to share them, try giving
them words by writing down what you are feeling. Give whatever you are
feeling simple words like "livid" or "angry" or "excited" You can also
funnel your feelings into a creative outlet, physical exercise, or chores.
Even just accepting and speaking your feelings out loud to yourself can be a
healing release. In releasing intense emotions, it is most beneficial to
acknowledge the feelings, allow yourself to feel them, and let the feelings
go. Those who are willing to experience and release their feelings without
judgment also find that their lives become less stressful. Breathing deeply,
going for a long walk, or doi! ng a constructive task can help you respond
to your feelings in a healthy way.
While burying negative or uncomfortable feelings can numb the pain, it also
may inevitably dull your ability to experience your more positive and
pleasurable feelings. You may find yourself afraid to open up in the future
for fear of getting hurt. The feelings we deny aren't limited to anger and
sadness. Suppressing our happiness or excitement can be just as unhealthy.
In learning how to express your intense emotions in a healthy way, you are
giving yourself the freedom to fully experience the more joyful emotions
that come with being alive.

Hidden Treasure*
*Finding Another Vantage Point*
The ocean can look very different, depending on whether you are standing at
the shore, soaring above in a plane, or swimming beneath its waves.
Likewise, a mountain can look very different relative to where you are
standing. Each living thing sees the world from its unique vantage point.
While from your window you may be seeing what looks like a huge shrub, a
bird in its nest is getting an intimate view of that tree's leafy interior.
Meanwhile, a beetle sees only a massive and never-ending tree trunk. Yet all
three of you are looking at the same tree.
Just as a shadow that is concealed from one point of view is easily seen
from another, it is possible to miss a fantastic view. That is, unless you
are willing to see what's in front of you through different eyes. Seeing the
world from another perspective, whether spatially or mentally, can introduce
you to all sorts of hidden treasures. The root of the discovery process
often lies in finding another way of looking at the world. The common human
reaction to insects is one example. Spinning its web in a dark corner, a
spider may seem drab, frightening, and mysterious. But seen up close weaving
silver snowflakes between the branches of a tree, they can look like colored
jewels.
Sometimes, there are experiences in life that from your vantage point may
seem confusing, alarming, or worrisome. Or there may be events that look
insignificant from where you are standing right now. Try seeing them from
another point of view. Bury your face in the grass and look at the world
from a bug's vantage point. Explore your home as if you were a small child.
Take a ride in a small aircraft and experience the world from a bird's eye
view. Just as kneeling down sometimes helps you see more closely when you
are looking for lost treasure, so can standing back help you appreciate the
broader picture of what you are looking at. In doing so, you'll experience
very different worlds.

*Recognizing Our Own Abundance*
*Planting The Seeds Of Generosity*
The most difficult time to be generous is when we ourselves are feeling
poor. While some of us have experienced actually being in the red
financially, there are those of us who would feel broke even if we had a
million dollars in the bank. Either way, as the old adage goes, it is always
in giving that we receive. Meaning that when we are living in a state of
lack, the very gesture we may least want to give is the very act that could
help us create the abundance that we seek. One way to practice generosity is
to give energy where it is needed. Giving money to a cause or person in need
is one way to give energy. Giving attention, love, or a smile to another
person are other acts of giving that we can offer. After all, there are
people all over the world that are hungry for love.
Sometimes when we practice generosity, we practice it conditionally. We
might be expecting to "receive back" from the person to whom we gave. We
might even become angry or resentful if that person doesn't reciprocate.
However, trust in the natural flow of energy, and you will find yourself
practicing generosity with no strings attached. This is the purest form of
giving. Remember that what you send out will always come back you.
Selflessly help a friend in need without expecting them to return the same
favor in the same way, and know that you, too, will receive that support
from the universe when you need it. Besides, while giving conditionally
creates stress (because we are waiting with an invisible balance sheet to
receive our due), giving unconditionally creates and generates abundance. We
give freely, because we trust that there is always an unlimited supply.
Being aware of how much we are always supported by the universe is one of
the keys to abundance and generosity. Consciously remember the times you've
received support from expected and unexpected sources. Remember anyone who
has helped you when you've needed it most, and bless all situations that
come into your life for the lessons and gifts they bring you. Remember that
all things given and received emanate from generosity. Giving is an act of
gratitude. Plant the seeds of generosity through your acts of giving, and
you will grow the fruits of abundance for yourself and those around you

Sunetul primordial
Once a person learns to transcend, his mind is opened to itself in a fresh
way. That is very beneficial, as we have seen, but it is not the whole
story. You can also learn to manipulate the subtle layers of the mind. For
that, special techniques exist, the first of which is called primordial
sound. It takes its name from the faint vibrations that can be detected when
the mind is almost totally quiet.
According to Ayurveda, these fainter-than-faint sounds are not incidental:
all of nature is made up of them. In the complete stillness of the quantum
mechanical universe, primordial sounds are born, form patterns, and in time
blossom into matter, energy, and all the infinite variety of things made of
matter and energy–Mars, trees, rocks, and human beings.
The theory behind primordial sound treatment is that the mind can return to
the quantum level, introduce certain sounds that may have become distorted
somewhere along the line, and thus have a profound healing influence in the
body.
