SRI AUROBINDO

"Transformation of the Individual

Consecration and Surrender
The relatively simple method of human growth and development is to open to the Force before an activity. This is to open to the Power of the Divine Mother. The Divine Mother is the feminine personification of the Divine, God. In that way the individual suffuses all actions taken with this power, releasing its infinite potential. At a further stage man surrenders to the Force, and makes the Divine the whole reason for his existence, carrying out the Divine Will in the details of his life. Sri Aurobindo also explains an ultimate process of yoga to enable his ultimate human evolution. This he calls the triple transformation (explained below).
The one thing demanded of those serious in following Sri Aurobindo's path is a sincerity in its pursuit, and an intense aspiration for the descent of the Power and the transformation of one's nature.

Triple Transformation
For those who undertake the path of personal transformation (i.e. yoga), Sri Aurobindo describes three successive phases of this transformation -- the psychic, the spiritual, and the supramental.
In the first phase of the Triple Transformation one moves from the outer surface consciousness to the inner consciousness; the inner mind, the subliminal within, until one reaches the personal soul, i.e. inner psychic consciousness. At the psychic one has withdrawn from the ego consciousness, one is able to understand and control the limitations of one's physical, vital, and mental being, and one is put in touch with the cosmic, universal forces and truths. This is the Psychic transformation.
At a further phase one rises higher in one's being toward higher planes of mind, including Higher Mind, Illumined Mind, and Intuitive Mind. It is an opening to the presence above, an elevation of one's lower consciousness to the higher, and the descent of the higher into the lower. This is the Spiritual transformation, beyond the Psychic transformation.
Beyond that still is the Supramental transformation, where one rises to the level of Supermind, for a radical transformation of the being out of the ignorance that is the foundation of our nature, and into a new functioning that transcends beyond the mental, vital, and physical. One can become the Supramental being. The Triple Transformation are three stages that would happen in succession. (There is of course room for endless variety.)

Evolution of Society
Just as the universe evolved from matter to life to mind; and the individual parallels that development in his body, his vital, and his mind, so too the society has evolved from a physical state of survival beginning say 100,000 years ago, to a vital stage during the middle of the last millennium, focused on trade, and interaction with others; to a mental stage that he is now currently emerging in which we see the emergence of freedom, democracy, higher organization, education, and individual self-fulfillment.
There is now the possibility of the mergence of the spiritual individual and the the spiritualized society.

Spiritualized Collective Existence
When a number of spiritualized evolutionary individuals appear they can come together and form a collative existence, the beginnings of what Sri Aurobindo calls a divine life on earth.

Nature of Spiritualized Collective Existence
-In this collective divine life, based on the principles of harmony and integrality, he would feel a complete oneness between his individuality and the collective purpose. For example, he would know how and when to lead or rule; or, as necessary, how and when to subordinate himself to the needs of the group. This will be a creative, spontaneous action because he is centered in this truth consciousness that knows the true Truths and experiences the oneness of all at any moment.
-He feels the essential unity and connection with all; because he feels the commonality of spirit, even of substance between himself and others. He is, in one sense, an extended being. Perhaps we can call him a universalized individual.
-What connects such supramentalized individuals into a bond of essential harmony, unit, and oneness is that each individual feels all selves to be an embodiment of a single self. This single self is the physical and soul experience that we are all in essence of the same spiritual Reality, each playing a role in a symphony of Divine unfolding. We feel that same spiritual essence within ourselves, with the environment, and with others. It is a spiritual bond that translates not only as a spiritual connection but as a deep emotional bond; perhaps even a physically sensational bond.

World Unity
Like individuals, nations are evolving. So is the world collective. There is an ever accelerating movement towards world unity. The emergence of the European Union (which he called for 75 years ago.) is an example. There is a movement from the ego of individual nation to collective association. Unity in multiplicity explains it.
Sri Aurobindo explains his vast philosophy in this area in such books as the The Human Cycle, and The Ideal of Human Unity"

        CONSTANTIN BRANCUSI

[brancusi.jpg]

    19 februarie 1876 - 16 martie 1957

ªi trebuie sã cauþi mereu sã scapi de maeºtrii. Nu ajunge sã posezi idei."

    "Despre Arta:

    1. Frumosul este echitatea absoluta.
    11. Eu as vrea sa creez - asa cum respir.
    24. În fiecare om zac energii nebanuite, asemenea diamantelor ascunse în pamânt. Fiecare îsi are însa diamantul sau.
Observati Dvs.

Acum existã ºi varianta

centimetru, ceea ce ajutã la diagnosticarea precoce a cancerului mamar ºi
creºte rata de vindecare a bolii. Astfel de aparate se gãsesc deja în
Capitalã, dar ºi în Cluj, Craiova ºi Târgoviºte.

tumori pânã la denivelãri ºi ulceraþie”, explicã Ioan Stoian, medic primar

Anca Dorobanþu are 42 de ani ºi a fãcut de curând aceastã analizã.
uºor de suportat decât o mamografie.

aparatului zonele afectate ºi culoarea tumorilor, iar medicul mi-a explicat
cã e vorba despre tumori benigne”, îºi aminteºte Anca.

Albastru = tumoare malignã

„Culoarea roºie indicã o elasticitate mare a sânului.

Sonoelastograful mãsoarã elasticitatea þesutului afectat ºi o

Unul dintre avantajele acestei investigaþii e lipsa durerii. În plus, e
non-invazivã, sânul nu e iradiat ºi procedura nu are efecte secundare. Ana

Recomandatã o datã pe an

an. „Astfel, atât medicii, cât ºi pacienþii pot observa modificãrile
þesutului mamar, urmãrind evoluþia unei tumori”, mai spune medicul Ioan
Stoian.

„Pot face
investigaþia ºi fetiþele cãrora abia au început sã le creascã sânii. Multe

„Pot face sonoelastografie ºi fetiþele cãrora abia le cresc sânii. Multe
tumori se dezvoltã la vârste fragede.“

Rolul Aspirinei

Rolul unei aspirine

EU MI-AM FACUT DATORIA!

SPER CA  VETI PROCEDA LA FEL!

 Zen

On The Way

                Mud and Water

                     Bassui

                  (1327-1387)

The way of Zen began without the establishment of any sect.  It is simply a religion which points to the one original mind of all Buddhas and ordinary people.  This mind is nothing other than Buddha nature.  To see this nature is what is meant by religious practice.  When you realize your Buddha nature, wrong relationships will instantly disappear, words will be of no concern, and the dust of the dharma will not stain you.  This is what is called Zen.  Attaining Zen is becoming a Buddha.  This real Buddha is none other than the heart of all beings, the master of seeing, hearing, and perceiving.

When one becomes enlightened in this way, body and mind are both Zen.  For whom is it easy to obtain?  For whom is it difficult to obtain?   From ancient times up to the present there has not been a single person who has attained Buddhahood without seeing into their original nature.  Of the seventeen hundred and one beings listed in the Transmission of the Lamp, all have pointed directly to people’s minds, making them see into their own nature solely and thus become Buddhas.  Moreover, the virtuous priests who followed all taught the transmission of mind through the mind exclusively.

Enlightened beings earnestly point to the dharma of mind, while the unenlightened, seeking Buddha outside the mind, wholeheartedly practice the dharma of existent phenomena.  They are different as black and white.  Like fire and water they can never mix.  Though the Buddha Way is for the purpose of realizing the important matter of cause and effect, when I see how a passing fancy can cause one to believe a teacher of false views, I realize how easily one’s karmic inclination can influence one’s beliefs.

But the karmic inclination people have toward the Buddha Way is far more intimate then their karmic inclination toward an individual.  By dharma I mean dharma of mind. Can one be without karmic inclination toward his own mind?  Realizing the Buddha mind with your own mind is like the sky realizing the sky.  How then will you deal with a teacher of false views who sets up barriers where there are none?

Questioner:  Even though one has the aspiration and practices the Way, if he meets a teacher of false views, he will surely enter the false path.  How can one recognize the difference between a teacher of false views and a true teacher?

Bassui:  If a practitioner wishes to distinguish a teacher of false views from a true teacher, he must first look into the true nature of his own mind carefully, and use this power of realization to make the distinction between the two types of teachers. Even then, trying to perceive the great dharma from one’s narrow viewpoint is like a mosquito trying to bite an iron cow.  Clearly one who tries to discriminate between a teacher of false views and a true teacher through his own feelings is like one who tries to light up heaven with the light of a lightning bug.  How can one every come close to proper discernment?

Questioner:  In that case, many beginning practitioners who believed in teachers of false views would spend their lives in vain; isn’t there some sign to make them aware of their mistake?

Bassui: The true teacher is one who has seen into his own nature.  One who gives sermons while not having seen into his own nature is a false teacher.

A good teacher is one who combines understanding and practice and has no lingering delusions.  These lingering delusions are ones that persist as a result of old habits.  The Zen Master Engo said:  “If he hasn’t cut through to full function, attained great freedom, why live and die with such a one?  Why do I say this?  Because he has not eliminated lingering delusions of good and bad, right and wrong.”  Tozan said, “If you want to distinguish between a truly superior person and a false one, there are three kinds of lingering delusions.  They are the lingering delusions of opinion, emotion, and speech.

“With lingering delusions of opinions, one can’t separate himself from the domain of the thinking mind and hence falls into the poisonous ocean.  With lingering delusions of emotion, one always looks at things from the standpoint of feelings, becoming narrow minded and biased.  With lingering delusions of speech, one loses sight of the wonderful teaching of the true nature of things and becomes blinded to its true activity.  Please consider these three lingering delusions carefully.”

One who has not yet exhausted these lingering delusions will be stained by the two aspects--existence and emptiness--and will not find freedom anywhere.  This is because he will not have penetrated the truth of his own nature.  The Great Master Bodhidharma said:  “In ancient times there was a monk, Zensho, who could recite the twelve sections of the sutras, yet he still couldn’t avoid the fate of the world of transmigration because he didn’t realize his own true nature.”  And again he said:  “Entering water and fire, climbing the Mountain Ringed by Swords, eating only once a day, sitting long hours in meditation and not lying down, are all ways of a heretic—the dharma of perpetual change.  If you are aware of the nature of spiritual awakening in your activities and movements, you will attain the mind of the Buddha.”

Bodhidharma said: “One who makes practice and theory one is a patriarch.”  Meeting a great master who has coordinated body and mind, for whom meditation and precepts are equally understood, who forgets both mind and dharma, who is not moved by praise or blame, who has attained the true Buddha Way, and in whom gathering disciples as numerous as the sands does not arouse pride, is as rare as the udonge flower which blossoms only once in three thousands years.  You should risk all, even your life, searching for such a teacher.”

The source of reality is inside you. It is your essence.

Here Jesus points the way to hidden dimensions, not simply the conventional notion of Heaven. When you go inside, you are aware of activity such as thoughts and feelings. Your instinct is to pursue the activity that brings pleasure and avoid that which brings pain.

But Jesus spoke of a completely different inner reality. The consciousness hidden behind your thoughts is the consciousness that upholds all intelligence in the universe. It is personal and collective at the same time. The personal is made up of your relationships, the collective is made up of the myths and archetypes common to all cultures. Both dimensions are you, and you can begin to connect the two as a bridge to the sacred.

Sit quietly when you have time to be alone and undisturbed. Choose a prayer that you feel comfortable with, or a phrase from that prayer. Silently repeat the words to yourself, letting them settle naturally into your awareness, becoming softer and deeper. Continue for at least five minutes and up to twenty minutes. This kind of sacred repetition is common to every religious tradition.

When you open your eyes, let your gaze settle on a sacred image. Ask this figure to embody itself through you. Gently feel a connection. Don't force this, just put out the intention that the archetype merges with your being. Some people use angels for this purpose, which is the same as asking for the essence of God to reach you.

Now contemplate the specific qualities you want, such as love, compassion, or forgiveness. These are archetypical energies that you are asking to express through your thoughts, emotions, and actions. By calling on your higher archetype, you will find yourself thinking and doing things you never expected as the person you know.

Generate Your Own Patterns
Becoming Your Parents
We don't need to become our parents, we can transform our lives and release all patterns and chains that bind.

Heredity plays a role in almost all human development, whether physical, mental, or emotional. We tend to look like our parents and are subject to the same sensitivities they have. We may even be predisposed to certain behaviors or preferences. As we grow older, we become increasingly aware of the traits that exist within us and the clear history of the traits of our mothers and fathers. Our response to this epiphany depends upon whether the inclinations, tendencies, and penchants we inherited from our forebears are acceptable in our eyes. We may honor some of these shared traits while rejecting others. However, there is no law of nature, no ethereal connection between parents and children, that states that the latter must follow in the footsteps of the former. We are each of us free to become whoever we wish to be.

When we accept that our parents are human beings in possession of both human graces and human failings, we begin to regard them as distinct individuals. And by granting mothers and fathers personhood in our minds, we come to realize that we, too, are autonomous people and in no way destined to become our relations. While we may have involuntarily integrated some of our parents' mannerisms or habits into our own lives, conscious self-examination will provide us with a means to identify these and work past them if we so desire. We can then unreservedly honor and emulate those aspects of our mothers and fathers that we admire without becoming carbon copies of them.

Though many of the tempers and temperaments that define you are inherited, you control how they manifest in your life. The patterns you have witnessed unfolding in the lives of your parents need not be a part of your unique destiny. You can learn from the decisions they made and choose not to indulge in the same vices. Their habits need not become yours. But even as you forge your own path, consider that your parents' influence will continue to shape your life—whether or not you follow in their footsteps. Throughout your entire existence, they have endeavored to provide you with the benefit of their experiences. How you make use of this profound gift is up to you.
