Conclusions: Patients with schizophrenia who were initiated on RLAT demonstrated improvements in measures of effectiveness within 3 months, which persisted over 24 months.

* insight in schizofrenie

Abstract: Patients with deficit schizophrenia have worse cognition and poorer social functioning compared with those with nondeficit schizophrenia. Insight is another domain in which these two groups might differ. However, there is no literature data specifically on cognitive insight impairment in deficit versus nondeficit schizophrenia. We compared 40 patients with deficit schizophrenia with 81 nondeficit patients and found that schizophrenic patients with deficit syndrome were more self-reflective and have higher self-reflectiveness−self-certainty index scores than did those without deficit syndrome. These differences remained significant when analysis was controlled for sex, age, education, and depression severity. On the other hand, there was no significant difference in self-certainty scores between two groups. In addition, we found significant relationships between cognitive insight and specific psychotic symptoms. A better understanding of the cognitive component of insight in schizophrenia with deficit syndrome may help us to understand the true relationship between insight and negative symptoms and contribute to the development of more efficient cognitive strategies, thus improving patients’ outcome in a severely disabled psychiatric patient group.

This article describes a special adaptation of group psychotherapy as a psychological treatment for people with a variety of gender identity disorders. It can be used as an alternative to or concurrently with hormonal and/or surgical interventions for transgender people. It is also suitable for individuals whose gender identity disorder remains after physical interventions. The article draws from a UK specialist pilot for such a treatment service and describes the explicit aims of the psychotherapy, the specialist adaptation of therapeutic technique required and observed thematic features relevant to working in this specific field.

* Parkinson

Our findings suggest that depression and motor symptoms/well-being are highly intertwined in patients with PD.

* hormonul adponectin

January 6, 2012 — New data from the Framingham Heart Study hint that an elevation in adiponectin level may be an independent risk factor for all-cause dementia and Alzheimer's disease (AD) in women.

* rispperidol la copii

January 5, 2012 — A new study shows that the antipsychotic drug risperidone is significantly superior to lithium and divalproex sodium for initial treatment of mania in children, and it is better tolerated, although this drug has potentially serious metabolic effects that raise concerns about its long-term use

* Insulina in Alzheimer

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is linked to CNS insulin resistance, decreased expression of insulin and insulin receptor genes, and lower cerebrospinal insulin levels. Against this background, impaired brain insulin signaling may account for some of the cognitive deficits associated with this disease. Using the intranasal method, which effectively bypasses the blood–brain barrier to deliver and target insulin directly from the nose to the brain, a series of acute clinical trials involving healthy humans and AD patients have shown that increased CNS insulin action enhances learning and memory processes. This article summarizes and evaluates data from a recently published clinical trial, in which 4 months of intranasal insulin administration (20 IU insulin/day) preserved not only general cognition but also reduced the loss of metabolic integrity of the brain in adults with mild-to-moderate AD.

* Alzheimer - 2025

CHICAGO (Reuters) Jan 19 - The U.S. government has set a deadline of 2025 for finding an effective way to treat or prevent Alzheimer's disease, an ambitious target considering there is no cure on the horizon and one that sets a firm deadline unlike previous campaigns against cancer or AIDS.

* citalopram maxim 40 mg.

August 24, 2011 — The antidepressant citalopram (Celexa, Forest Laboratories) should not be used in doses higher than 40 mg per day because of concerns that it can cause potentially fatal changes in heart rhythm, the US Food and Drug Administration warns
